AntiVJ:

ANTIVJ is a visual label initiated by a group of European artists whose work is focused on the use of projected light and its influence on our perception.

  • The Ark

The Ark is an ephemeral, site-specific installation built around the cacti that line the Aljibe, at the heart of the Ethnobotanical Garden of Oaxaca.

Adopting a poetic approach, The Ark gives voice to the garden’s plants, participants in the work, the beating heart of the space and an unpredictable choir.

  • Dry Lights

A trip through an electric desert, Dry Lights by Xavier Chassaing unfolds in an imagined environment of cacti and canyons, moving from hidden caves to lonely cliffs along pulsating rivers of light.

This experimental film lies somewhere between a site-specific installation and a performance, where choreographed lights meet organic landscapes. Like an imaginary city flickering in the dark, the lights beacon fragments of vague memories – faded moments, experiences, and topographies.

  • CityScape 2095

The core idea of this project was to create a sense of the passing of a day in an imaginary city, in fast-forward.

The spectator would be at the top of a tower, facing a huge “world city”. A mix of various architectural influences were used to create a dystopian city which would feel strangely familiar but also impossible to locate.

  • EYJAFJALLAJOKULL

Inspired by the Icelandic volcano, which wreaked travel havoc across Europe earlier this year,

Joanie Lemercier presents the latest incarnation of its audiovisual mapping project

Painted directly onto a large wall, a wireframed scenery is slowly revealed by gentle light effects.

The audience’s sense is progressively challenged as optical illusions question their perception of space.

United Visual Artists (UVA):

United Visual Artists (UVA) is a London-based art practice founded in 2003. UVA’s broad body of work encompasses wall-based artwork, sculpture and large-scale, site-specific installation.

  • Musica Universalis

Musica Universalis is a spatial instrument that investigates the resonances from far away objects in our solar system. It comprises a series of kinetic, physical sculptures, each containing a spherical form and a mechanism driving a rotating light source and speaker. Light is cast through the space creating interventions and interactions with the architecture. Oscillations slowly drift in and out of harmony within each cell and across the series. Over time, white light shifts into its component frequencies of colour.

  •  Our Time

Our Time defines a physical environment where pendulums swing at a pace apparently unhindered by the laws of nature and where no single time measurement applies. The installation combines movement, light and sound as a multi-sensory, multi-dimensional canvas the visitor can enter. Pendulums swing, each to their own rhythm, as time flows through the grid. With light tracing the path and sound its echo, the passing of time becomes almost palpable.

Random International:

Random International is a collaborative studio for experimental practice within contemporary art. Founded in 2005 by Hannes Koch and Florian Ortkrass, the studio now includes a larger team in London and Berlin.

  • Rain Room

Rain Room can be seen as an amplified representation of our environment. Human presence prevents the rain from falling, creating a unique atmosphere and exploring how human relationships to each other and to nature are increasingly mediated through technology.
